The Olio Nuovo Club: What It Is and Why People Join

There's a particular kind of satisfaction that comes from knowing exactly where your food comes from.

Not in a vague, label-reading sense but genuinely knowing. The grove. The region. The people who picked the fruit and pressed the oil. The week it was made.

That's what the Olio Nuovo Club is built around. It's not a subscription in the way a streaming service is a subscription something you set up and forget about. It's a direct connection between you and a single harvest, from a single grove, in the Macedon Ranges of Victoria.

Here's how it works, and why the people who join tend to stay.

What Is the Olio Nuovo Club?

The Olio Nuovo Club is our way of getting fresh harvest olive oil directly to the people who want it most before it reaches anyone else, and as close to pressing as possible.

Each year, we harvest our olives in autumn, press them within hours, and bottle the oil immediately. Members of the Club receive their allocation directly from us shipped as soon as the oil is ready, not weeks or months later.

There's no warehouse sitting between our grove and your kitchen. No slow distribution chain. No oil aging in a tank while paperwork catches up.

You get the oil at its best, because that's the only point at which it makes sense to receive it.

Why a Club Rather Than Just a Shop?

Fresh harvest olive oil is a seasonal product. Our olives ripen once a year. We press once a year. The oil we produce from that harvest is finite once it's gone, it's gone until next season.

A traditional retail model doesn't suit this well. If we listed our oil in a shop and waited for people to find it, we'd either run out quickly and disappoint late arrivals, or we'd hold stock back and let the oil age while we waited for sales to catch up.

The Club solves this. Members reserve their allocation before harvest. We know exactly how much oil to expect from the season, and we know exactly where it's going. It means the people who care most about freshness who understand what they're buying and why it matters are the ones who receive it first.

It also means we can communicate directly with our members throughout the season. What the harvest looks like. How the fruit is developing. When to expect their oil. The kind of detail that turns a bottle of olive oil into something with a story.

What Members Receive

Club members receive fresh harvest Olio Nuovo delivered directly to their door each season.

The oil arrives:

  • Within days of pressing — not weeks, not months

  • Unfiltered — cloudy with fine olive particles, at full flavour and polyphenol intensity

  • From our grove in the Macedon Ranges — single origin, single season, traceable to a specific harvest

Each delivery includes information about the season harvest dates, flavour notes, how the year's conditions shaped the oil so you know exactly what you're tasting and why it tastes the way it does.

Who Joins the Club

Our members are people who care about what they eat. Not obsessively, not performatively just genuinely. People who have started paying attention to the quality of their ingredients and find it hard to go back.

Some came to us through a gift. Someone put a bottle of Olio Nuovo on the table at dinner and they tasted it properly for the first time and wanted to know where it came from.

Some found us through interest in the Mediterranean diet, or in polyphenols and the health properties of fresh olive oil. They were looking for the real thing and found it.

Some are chefs and food professionals who understand instinctively what fresh oil means and want a direct supply.

Some are simply people who love good food and have decided that the olive oil they use every day is worth caring about.

What they share is this: once they've tasted fresh harvest oil at its peak, the idea of going back to supermarket olive oil doesn't make much sense anymore.

The Value of a Direct Relationship

There's something worth saying about what it means to buy directly from the people who made your food.

When you join the Olio Nuovo Club, you're not a transaction in a retail system. You're someone we're making oil for. Your allocation is part of how we plan our harvest season. Your feedback shapes what we do next year.

This kind of direct relationship between producer and consumer used to be the norm — before supermarkets and global supply chains made it seem unnecessary. We think it's worth rebuilding, one bottle at a time.

It's also simply more interesting. Knowing that the oil on your breakfast eggs this morning was pressed from olives picked three weeks ago, twenty minutes from Kyneton, by people who care deeply about what ends up in your kitchen that changes the experience of eating it.

Food with a story tastes better. That's not sentiment. It's just true.

Awards You Can Taste

Olio Nuovo has been recognised at the highest levels of international olive oil competition — Gold at the Royal Tasmanian Fine Food Awards 2025 and Gold at the Dubai Olive Oil Competition 2025.

These aren't awards given for packaging or marketing. They're awarded by panels of trained tasters evaluating the oil on its merits flavour, aroma, complexity, and the absence of defects. Winning gold at both a rigorous domestic competition and one of the world's most prestigious international competitions tells you something real about what's in the bottle.

Club members receive this oil. The same oil. Not a different grade held back for retail — the same harvest, the same pressing, the same quality.

How to Join

Joining the Olio Nuovo Club is straightforward. You sign up before harvest, your allocation is reserved, and when the oil is ready it comes directly to you.

Membership is limited by what the harvest produces. We don't over-promise on quantity because we can't control the season only how we respond to it.

If you're interested in joining, the best time to do it is before harvest season begins in autumn. Late joiners risk missing out on an allocation entirely if the season's supply has already been committed.

Fresh oil. Direct from the grove. Once a year.

That's the Club. We'd love to have you in it.
